Holding up her computer, psychology club president and senior Naomi Stein speaks about how people in the military are classically conditioned to do their job without medical consequences at a club meeting in November. Stein said that she liked how everyone is able to collaboratively discuss the topics at hand, and learn more about others opinions on those matters along the way. “I like how everyone gets to learn more about others perspectives, like their standpoint on nature vs nurture, which is a big topic in psychology,” Stein said.

But it’s really brought us together because we’ve had a ton of work to do, and we’ve gotten it done. We’ve been learning our music and it’s actually been going really well because this is the first real year that we have a show choir. So with that said we’re doing really well.”

The Leander Chamber of Commerce and Leander ISD partnered up with local businesses to present employment opportunities for both teenagers and adults. The Job Fair, which was held on Nov. 10 at the LEO Center, is an important event in hiring more employees from the district, according to Chief Communications Officer of Leander ISD Corey Ryan. “Hiring and retention have been an issue for all school districts, including Leander ISD, Ryan said. We attend, host, and partner with other organizations on job fairs to keep hiring efforts ongoing. Workers in the area will have more options with all the competition between employers in the area.

Holding up their T-Wolf signs, volleyball girls and Wolves for Wishes ambassador, senior Ana-Kate Partridge, pose for a picture at the volleyball bake sale on Oct. 19. This was the clubs first fundraiser, and they raised a total of $1,750 for the Make A Wish Foundation. I was shocked at how much money [we] raised from the bake sale, Partridge said. Just knowing that we raised that much money and that [the team] was willing to do this made me really excited, and I was so grateful that all these people [donated].

Each week, PALS go to the local elementary and middle schools and spend time with the kids. “We get to see our kids every week and hang out with them,” junior Abigail Martinez said. “We play games, do crafts, or just talk with them and build relationships.”

Filled with enthusiasm, secretary, social media manager and senior Arina Gart paints a skeleton on a girl’s face. Trunk or Treat is an annual school-sponsered community event where kids wear their Halloween costumes and interact with various clubs and organizations to receive candy. “A lot of people came to our booth at Trunk or Treat, and a lot of [our members] were volunteering too,” Gart said. “We got to do a bunch of different paintings, and since everyone is so talented in Art Club it turned out really good.”

Executive Editor and senior Brynn Clare designs an advertisement for the Timberwolf Agency. Clare took on the role of Executive Editor, the highest leadership position in the Timberwolf Agency, to have a more active role in the class. I didnt know about the leadership positions beforehand, but I thought that being able to work a little closer with everyone else sounded fun, Clare said. Besides, I plan to major in a graphic-design related field and the experience will be nice to have.
