After regionals, the team moved to the state competition where they placed fifth. “We know that fifth is in state is still an awesome rank, but just to know that our routine could’ve been better is still [disappointing], senior cheer captain Alyssa King said. 
On the bright side, our loss has only encouraged us to bring our A game to our first national competition in Florida.”

With student choice sheets around the corner, students have the chance to pick classes that fit their interests and hobbies. While Cedar Park has a vast option of classes that students can take, there is the option to take  courses, like Cosmetology and Autotech, at different campuses. “I took cosmetology because I prefer to work with my hands and to actually do things than to sit in a classroom all day,” junior Sophia Matthys said. “I am also not sure whether I am going to attend college or not so if I don’t go to college I will always have a career option.”

Taking a deep breath, senior swim captain Ashley Poulsen participates in the 100 meter butterfly event at the district meet on Jan. 17. Both the swim and dive teams ranked first in the district, and are moving onto regionals. “It is exciting knowing we won districts because we are one step closer to state,” Poulsen said. “We are anxious about how regionals will go because we have been very close in years past. Last year the boys team lost first place and got second by half a point, so it will be an exciting meet coming up.”
