Walking down the street and looking at the lights have always been a fun tradition during the Holiday seasons. However, traditions have evolved into Christmas-themed amusement parks, drive-through light shows and even cafes that get in the spirit. There are various places to consider going to this holiday season, and that can range from walking through your local neighborhood or traveling further to a drive-through light show, blasting Christmas music and drinking hot chocolate.

Holding up their T-Wolf signs, volleyball girls and Wolves for Wishes ambassador, senior Ana-Kate Partridge, pose for a picture at the volleyball bake sale on Oct. 19. This was the clubs first fundraiser, and they raised a total of $1,750 for the Make A Wish Foundation. I was shocked at how much money [we] raised from the bake sale, Partridge said. Just knowing that we raised that much money and that [the team] was willing to do this made me really excited, and I was so grateful that all these people [donated].

This holiday season, local coffee shops have released seasonal flavors. Pictured: Apple Crisp Macchiato from Starbucks, Peppermint Mocha Moon from Summer Moon, and Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew from Dunkin Donuts. The Peppermint Mocha Moon was my favorite coffee I purchased because of the strong flavor of peppermint and chocolate, which immediately reminded me of the holiday season. This drink is a perfect drink for anyone who wants to start celebrating the holidays a little early.

Senior Diego Salazar Lopez competes in the 50 yard butterfly on Nov. 5 at the Leander and Gateway Tri Meet, where he won fourth place out of 22 other boys. Salazar is one of the top swimmers in the boys division, and one of the qualifiers for the Texas Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association meet. Since freshman year, it feels that I have received more respect than how I was my previous years, more trust in the team, and more relaxed, Lopez said. I feel as though I have improved greatly each year. I’ve gotten faster and stronger physically, emotionally, and mentally.

Filled with enthusiasm, secretary, social media manager and senior Arina Gart paints a skeleton on a girl’s face. Trunk or Treat is an annual school-sponsered community event where kids wear their Halloween costumes and interact with various clubs and organizations to receive candy. “A lot of people came to our booth at Trunk or Treat, and a lot of [our members] were volunteering too,” Gart said. “We got to do a bunch of different paintings, and since everyone is so talented in Art Club it turned out really good.”

Eating breakfast, Junior Scott Marsh sits with his friends in the morning. Marsh regularly eats breakfast from school and said he considers it important for his academic and athletic performance. Generally, it helps me get through the morning without falling asleep and gives me the protein I need for football, Marsh said. As winners of the  BeYOUtiful Tournament on Nov. 13, the varsity team smiles with their medals. After earning a state title last year for the first time in school and district history, the team has their sights on winning again this year. “The two main goals this season is another district championship and another run at state with high hopes to repeat,” junior Molly Ly said. “I think our teams strongest attribute is our ability to play selflessly and our ability to play hard. We do an awesome job of sharing the ball, and we always go one hundred percent even if we are up by 20.”
