It feels like perfect time to dress up as hipsters and make fun of our exes as we listen to Red (Taylors Version). Losing ownership of this album was blue, but Taylor Swift is beginning again as she re-records her fourth studio album.

Losing You Was Blue

Ireland Weaver, Reporter December 15, 2021

On Nov. 12, Taylor Swift made history after re-releasing her fourth studio album Red and renaming it "Red (Taylor's Version)." The addition of (Taylor's Version) means Swift is the owner of the recording...

For this winter season, a good bowl of soup is the perfect remedy. Pictured above is the new storefront of Ramen512, which is open Wednesday through Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. as well as Saturday and Sunday during mid-day lunch times and the evening. Pho and Ramen have a variety of options just to one’s liking and provide a great hearty meal to stay healthy in cold temperatures.

Noodle Heaven

Anthony Whiting, Reporter December 9, 2021

Although the first day of winter isn’t until Dec. 21, it feels like it has already arrived for Central Texans not conditioned to cold weather like myself. Recently, I’ve gravitated towards having more...

This holiday season, local coffee shops have released seasonal flavors. Pictured: Apple Crisp Macchiato from Starbucks, Peppermint Mocha Moon from Summer Moon, and Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew from Dunkin Donuts. The Peppermint Mocha Moon was my favorite coffee I purchased because of the strong flavor of peppermint and chocolate, which immediately reminded me of the holiday season. This drink is a perfect drink for anyone who wants to start celebrating the holidays a little early.

The Holiday Rush

Penny Moreno, Reporter November 24, 2021

One cold morning, I woke up needing an energy boost. I sat in the Dunkin Donuts line wondering if any new drinks had come out. I searched the menu to see their new holiday menu had recently been released....

Denis Villeneuve, the director of the 2021 Dune film, released a poorly managed film. Having a complicated and confusing plot the movie wouldve failed without its large spending budget. The greatest parts of the movie were the elements like CGI, music and actor selection, but it missed the mark on plot lines and acting.

Dune or Don’t

Ty Cathey, Reporter November 12, 2021

While the new movie “Dune” was full of great CGI, music design and costumes, the producers missed the mark on plot development. “Dune” included A-list celebrities such as Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya,...

In this scene, Karen shows up uninvited to Malik and Imanis home and proceeds to cause a scene with her unsolicited opinions. This is just one of the several scenes where Karen attempts to stir drama with her neighbors. I enjoyed the films use of scenes like this one because they added a touch of realism to the film.

I Want to Speak to Your Manager

Isaiah Prophet, Reporter November 4, 2021

With a short bob haircut and even shorter temper, everyone has dealt with a “Karen” at some point in their lives.  She stalks the scene, waiting for her moment to berate and harass any person in her...

“Many Saints of Newark” provides a dull look into the lives of a New Jersey mob family. Violence and sex can’t seem to make this film interesting. While the visual side of the film is impeccable, the story relies too heavily on the reputation of “The Sopranos.”

How to Make Violence Boring

Ireland Weaver, Reporter October 29, 2021

"The Many Saints of Newark" can be summed up in three words: sex, blood and politics. I sat down to watch a mob movie, but the necessary inclusion of the 1960s political climate was slightly unexpected....

With the Halloween season just around the corner, horror and mystery books are becoming the go-to at the library. Some good spooky season reads include IT by Stephen King and Home Before Dark by Riley Sager.

Playing the guitar, Gene Simmons performs as flames shoot out behind him. This is just one of the many times he was lifted on the platform. The 72-year-old musician created the band KISS in 1972 with lead singer Paul Stanley.

Flames, Blood, Confetti

Ireland Weaver, Reporter October 19, 2021

I have been to many great concerts in my life, such as Paul McCartney, Metallica and Lil Wayne, just to name a few. However, going to a KISS concert is beyond any performance I have ever seen. This is...

Erin French released her memoir “Finding Freedom” on Apr. 6 that tells the story of creating community through the love of food in the town of her childhood, Freedom, Maine, that carries bitter memories. Her restaurant, The Lost Kitchen, remains one of the hardest restaurants to book reservations for in the nation.

Book Review: “Finding Freedom”

Anthony Whiting, Reporter October 15, 2021

She is a cook, not a chef. Erin French is not the typical author, but her story isn’t either. ‘Finding Freedom: A Cook's Story; Remaking a Life from Scratch’ was released earlier this year on Apr....

At the Honda Stage, my friends and I saw Surfaces and Polo G perform. This stage is one of the larger stages, and I was up near the barricade so I felt all the vibrations through my body. I definitely got dehydrated, but they passed out boxed water to the crowd, which helped me not feel like I was about to pass out.
