Timberwolves For The Environment club members work on creating mats, bags, and even pillows out of plastic bags. These products will be sold for the clubs benefit and they will also be donated to the homeless. I really love being a part of something where I can spend time doing things that help others, sophomore and club member Alexa Yeager said.

Jabbar reflects on this work. “For four months, every Wednesday after school, we practiced for an hour and fifteen minutes on the four songs,” Jabbar says. “And these weren’t easy songs. Ms Holt made sure we chose really hard songs that the professional choirs do. I was really happy that all the hard work was recognized.”

Timberwolves for the Environment members work on converting plastic bags to mats and pillows. These newly converted mats and pillows will be donated to the homeless. “You really feel good when you are making these things for other people because we get to deliver the mats and when we deliver it to the homeless and they are really appreciative of it,” junior club officer Savanna Laughlin said. “It’s really eye opening like, ‘wow we have it really good’ and just spending one hour after school can make such a difference in a person’s life.”

After her trip to Rwanda last year, Elliott decided this year to bring with her handmade friendship bracelets. They are such an uplifting, happy community [in Rwanda], Elliott said. Juniors Stella Grispo, Andrea Medoro, Nele Stoetzner and senior Ronja Bosy all abandoned their comfort zones when they left their home countries and came to the U.S. The four exchange students will be spending the entire school year in Texas. “When I was younger, it was always my dream to live one day in the U.S,” Stoetzner said. “My neighbor [spent] one year in Australia and she told me a lot about [the exchange program]. I wanted to do an exchange to the U.S for the experience and to improve my English [and] to meet new people.”
