Throughout his high school experience Allen was involved in many different productions and plans to continue his career in theatre as he attends the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts. I’m really excited,” Allen said. “I think the community in New York is going to be a big change, but also really fun and inviting. I’m excited to also just focus on the arts and not really have to worry about school and be around other people who are really invested in the arts.

He joined the Yamaha racing team in 2020 after replacing Valentino Rossi, a MotoGP legend. Quartararo is loved among fans and is currently placed in ninth with 49 points.

Performing on stage, junior Aidan Cox and senior Aidan Johnson act in Big Fish, theatres annual musical. The two said they are looking forward to the upcoming Heller Awards on April 19. This year the theatre department was awarded five nominations for Big Fish. “It’s an incredible show,” Cox said. “Being in our number for Best Production last year was dreamlike with the wall of sound and applause from thousands of theatre kids and people from all over. All of our hard work will absolutely pay off when we hear the full orchestra and see the massive crowd of people there to watch it all happen.”

Lying on the shelf in the science fiction section of the library are a wide variety of novels, with classics such as “The Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins and “The Maze Runner” by James Dashner. Reading is a gateway to different worlds and can take readers on an adventure they can’t experience in their own life, giving them the opportunity to escape from their current reality, according to English teacher Jessica Logsdon. “Reading has given me a much-needed outlet. [It has] provided stability [and] consistency in times of uncertainty, and allowed me to build a community of readers around me.”

The van of We Are Blood, the primary blood donation organization in the Austin area, sits outside the school. According to senior and HOSA officer Jennifer Pham, the blood drive required coordinating with We Are Blood and the school. “Planning the blood drive required many months of planning and lots of communication with the company We Are Blood and the school,” Pham said. “For us to have a successful blood drive, there were lots of requirements that we had to meet. We had to have a certain amount of donors to even be considered.”

Trophy in hand, senior Ethne Barnes wins first place at DECA’s international competition. Barnes got highly involved in many of the communities at Cedar Park after transferring from a small private school as a freshman, she has now spent four years giving back to them. “My favorite thing about DECA is the people,” Barnes said. “I want people to feel as excited about DECA as I did that first day. So it was really important to me that our chapter grow and expand to get even more people within the school talking about DECA. Our chapter has achieved some pretty great things and I think we deserve recognition for it, every club at this school does.”

As a whole, the boys team ended up in second place in district and the girls team ended the season as district champions. “It is just nice to have those teammates that are always there for you and always pick you up because they understand what youre going through,” junior Avery Allmer said. “I love having teammates and coaches that always support you and genuinely want the best for you.”

The team is currently fifth in districts with a record of 4-3. “Were neck and neck with a lot of other teams right now,” Head Baseball Coach Tyler Farst said. “The district championship right now is wide open for anybody. Everybody’s got a couple of losses, nobodys really running away with the lead. Looking forward, we’re going to continue to keep competing. We take it one week at a time.”

They also competed in Orlando, Florida, for the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship on Feb. 16, which concluded their competition season. “My favorite thing about the team is our ability to make anything fun,” senior captain Katelyn Orzoco said. “We are constantly laughing and having fun with each other. The bond we have is like no other. But when it comes time to focus and work, we get things done.”

During his regular season, he went 24-3. “Wrestling is my whole life,” Brandt said. “I’ve done it since I’ve walked. It teaches you a lot of good stuff on how to be a better human, and you can definitely learn a lot rather than just how to pin someone. “Beau is Afraid” is the third feature film from horror director Ari Aster, known for nail-biting films like Hereditary and Midsommar. Hhowever, unlike his previous horror-oriented films, Beau is Afraid is an odd mix between surrealist nightmare and shockingly funny comedy. With quite the mixed reception, a three hour runtime, and its status as a box-office bomb with reports of people walking out the theater, I was cautiously optimistic but had no idea what kind of wild ride I was getting myself into.

One of the few stick vehicles in the school parking lot, senior Alex Trebilco’s 1970 Ford Maverick is a restoration project he worked on with his dad. He and his father have worked on cars together for all of Trebilco’s life, and have several finished projects because of it. “[My favorite memory with my car is] honestly just cruising with my dad in his truck and my car,” Trebilco said. “Both of the [cars] are restored. He did the truck and we did the Maverick, so it’s cool to roll down in two cars that we made run together.”

The show was held on Dec. 2 in the PAC after a years hiatus due to COVID-19. My favorite part of the holiday show was getting to spend time with my friends and getting to see everyone else perform as well, Solberg said. I love being on Luminaries because I get to spend a lot of quality time with my friends and grow as a dancer.

Coming off a tough non-district schedule and loss to Round Rock, varsity football won its first district game of the season against Georgetown 49-45. The game came down to the final minute, with the T-Wolves’ play cementing their lead. “Winning our first district game definitely helped us because we had just beat one of our toughest district opponents in a big way,” junior linebacker Isaac Barksdale said. “The mood was almost frustrated because it was that close of a game. But, it was also like ‘Okay, we know what we have to do, so let’s go do it.’

Anna said that the best part of the snow days was how pretty it was. “I loved going outside and taking pictures,” Anna said. “The worst part was not being able to drive anywhere. I had gotten my license the day before the snow and I had to wait a week before I could actually go anywhere because of the ice roads.”
