After about eight long years of waiting, our dreams have come true. Adele has officially released her new song: “Hello” from her upcoming album “25” which debuts Nov.20.

“Hello” was dropped five days ago on Adele’s Vevo channel and has been shattering records ever since. According to “The Guardian Newspaper”, the music video broke the record of most viewed music video in 24 hours with 27.7 million views, which Taylor Swift held with a viewing of 27 million with her video “Bad Blood” video.

The stunning music video was filmed in Montreal, Canada and directed by French-Canadian film-maker Xavier Dolan. It also features 90210’s Tristan Wilds and Adele herself. The video is black and white and colored in nostalgia. The video shows Wilds talking to the screen as if he were talking to his lover much like One Direction’s “Night Changes” music video.

As the story continues, Wilds becomes saddened by the fact that he is no longer a part of his lover’s life then the shot shifts to Adele standing in the middle of a field crying and of course singing “Hello.”

The music video also features a flip phone, phone booth and landline which Dolan explains in a Billboard interview about how modern technology takes out the magic of the film.

“They’re so implanted in our lives that when you see them in movies you’re reminded you’re in reality,” Dolan said. “If you see an iPhone or a Toyota in a movie, they’re anti-narrative; they take you out of the story. If I put an iPhone or a modern car in a movie it feels like I’m making a commercial.”

However, while the music video does feature a ‘love story’ like concept, Adele reveals in an interview with “i-D” magazine, she explains that the video is an apology song, not to the ex she wrote “Someone Like You” about, rather to all the people in her life, and to herself for all the mistakes she has made and will continue to make.

To date, the video has 116 million views and counting. “Hello” is truly an emotional song that almost anyone can relate to, and should be on everyone’s playlist. The song is definitely worth five stars.
