Girls Basketball Stays Strong Throughout Season

The girls basketball team has been hard at work this season facing many new challenges.

Due to redistricting, many LISD schools have moved up to 6A while CPHS remained at 5A. This change has caused the girls basketball team to be up against many new teams for the very first time.

The team is leading 10-2 so far this season, and are hoping to have more wins ahead of them.

“It’s amazing what we can do together” Senior Captain Cami Rettinger said. “We are taking it one game at a time so we don’t get ahead of ourselves.”

It is also Coach Smith’s first season coaching the varsity girls basketball team. Formerly the girls JV basketball coach, Smith stepped up to take over for varsity while Coach Holman became the JV Coach.

“I’m so proud of how far our girls have come since the beginning of the season,” Coach Smith, said. “we are doing well in district right now so I am very proud of them.”
