With the arrival of fall, basketball season is getting under way. The girl’s freshmen and junior varsity basketball teams have been practicing since Oct. 17 and are ready for the start of their season.
“I am looking forward to having fun with my team,” sophomore JV guard Mireya Murillo said. “We are like sisters.”
The Lady Timberwolves freshman team had to adjust to high school basketball. According to freshman Harley Canales, practices are more serious than middle school because they practice with varsity.
“The game is faster,” Canales said. “Everything is fast-paced.”
Both teams face Liberty Hill in their first game of the year on Nov. 6 at home. They will also host their first tournament Nov. 8-10 at CPHS.
“I really hope to beat Liberty Hill,” Murillo said. “When we play, it is always a close game and hopefully we will come out on top.”
