Striding away from the Belvedere building complex, junior Addie Johnson and Senior Cooper Johnson pose for a family picture in Vienna, Austria. The Johnson family lived in Austria for six years and while living there, Cooper said he enjoyed the freedom provided by public transportation. “I liked just the overall city and the public transportation,” Cooper said. “It gave me the ability to go anywhere I wanted whenever I felt like it.”

Pictured above is Olivia Rodrigo performing “the grudge” at her “GUTS” Tour. I left this concert feeling grateful, nostalgic and just overall so happy that I had gotten to be a part of such an unforgettable experience.

DEN, a 35-minute-long free period students are given, is used in many ways for a variety of purposes. Students use this time to work on homework, make up missed tests and sometimes catch up with friends. Lots of students use DEN to run “errands,” as well, whether that means picking up an assignment from a teacher, visiting with a student teacher or asking the librarian about a tech issue. Students can no longer leave their designated classroom during DEN, even to go to the restroom.

To combat the growing price on fast food, my family uses fast food apps. There are five apps we use the most: QuikTrip, Sonic, Chick-fil-A, McDonalds and Whataburger.

UIL changes made

During Feburary Conference, UIL released its 2010-2011 district alignment for all athletics. Some significant changes have been made, including Cedar Park’s return to the 4A level. Vista Ridge will also return to 4A after two years of participating in a 5A district. Cedar Park and Vista Ridge will be joined by Dripping Springs, Marble Falls and the three-time defending football state champions Lake Travis. The two new schools in Leander ISD, Rouse and Vandergrift, will also be a part of the reformed District 25-4A.

Cedar Park’s old district, 16-5A, saw some small changes as well. They lost Cedar Park and Vista Ridge, but will welcome an old friend back, the Pflugerville Panthers. The Panthers moved to District 25-5A last year, and now the powerhouse school will go back to playing its old rivals. LHS is the only LISD school that will remain in 5A, and they are joined by Georgetown, McNeil, Round Rock, Stony Point, and Westwood to complete the 16-5A district.

It will be interesting to see how the two former 5A schools, Cedar Park and Vista Ridge, will fair against their new 4A opponents. Lake Travis has always been a powerhouse and the two new schools are trying to prove they can compete at a 4A level. District 16-5A will have an exciting schedule of games with the return of Pflugerville, and it will be interesting to see who takes over the district championship next year after Cedar Park leaves for 4A athletics.
