Students reach for energy drinks as concerns about their health effects continue to grow. “I think social media has turned energy drinks into a trendy habit,” junior Lydia Ou said. The increasing use of highly caffeinated drinks among teens raised serious concerns among doctors, parents and educators.

Musical theatre class runs through “Footloose” during their dress rehearsal. Senior student director Mia Morneault says how much she’s enjoyed working with the cast and crew. “I am very proud of all the cast and crew who worked as hard on it as I have. A lot of people care about [this show],” Morneault said. “I have a lot of friends on the cast and on the crew, but I’ve also grown and gained friendships through the show, even as director where I may be a little more stricter than normal. And I am very grateful for everyone I’ve gotten to work with.”

At the 5A state champion Gold Medal Ceremony, band directors Christopher Yee, Jordan Openshaw, Kendall Santos, Roland Chavez and Jeremiah Armstrong celebrate their excellence. Broadcast, yearbook and newspaper combined for 66 Interscholastic League Press Conference awards this year. Yearbook won 43, newspaper won 14 and broadcast took home nine. “I think [the ILPC awards] are a great way to give the kids some acknowledgement for all of their hard work,” newspaper and yearbook adviser Paige Hert said. “They typically spend the year covering everyone else’s big moments, so it’s really cool for them to be celebrated so many times and in so many different ways.”

The varsity baseball team played in the bi-district round of playoffs against the Boerne Greyhounds April 30-May 2, where they won Game 1 6-4, lost Game 2 2-1 and won the last game 5-2, allowing them to advance to area. “Honestly, [my favorite] big moment that wasn't even part of my moment was Dom's grand slam,” Cuevas said. “That was a big game changer in Game 1 of round one that ultimately helped us win that game and even move on. Slaughter played both soccer and basketball at the varsity level throughout high school. “Both basketball and soccer have meant the most to me,” Slaughter said. “Playing both sports have taught me so many things about myself and skills needed for the future. I have become a more well-rounded person. The varsity baseball team competed in the Central Texas First Pitch Classic Tournament, where they played against L.D. Bell on Feb. 21, ending the game with a score of 7-6. “Seeing the new turf field finally finished after watching the old dirt field get torn down and leveled was a really exciting feeling because it was something we’d known was going to happen for over a year,” Daly said. “Having a field that we were able to practice on during the offseason and preseason gives us a much better opportunity to build a solid base that will help carry us through the season and that feels good to know.”

I’m going to go trick-or-treating with my friends as Puss in Boots from the movie “Shrek”, and I will be discussing why I believe we are not too old to trick-or-treat, and why if you want to, you shouldn’t be ashamed of doing so.

I decided to get the “Raspberry dream” Drink which consists of a base of Dr. Pepper, mixed with raspberry puree and coconut cream, and is known for its creamy, sweet, and tropical flavor.

Senior executive editor Natalie Murray, senior associate editor Lily Cooper and junior designer Ava Eaton all sit in conversation with recent clients. After the completion of the Parks and Trails Foundation logo, representatives visited the T-Wolf Agency to provide thanks for all the work done. “I know how beneficial it is to be able to work with clients,” Murray said. “We had a previous executive editor come back and tell us how good of an opportunity it is to have this agency here especially if you want to go into graphic design after high school. The people she’s in classes with didn’t have any access to the things we do here and there's only one other LISD school that has a class like this. It’s just a really good opportunity to get real world experience especially when we get to work with people outside the school. Executive Editor and senior Brynn Clare designs an advertisement for the Timberwolf Agency. Clare took on the role of Executive Editor, the highest leadership position in the Timberwolf Agency, to have a more active role in the class. "I didn't know about the leadership positions beforehand, but I thought that being able to work a little closer with everyone else sounded fun," Clare said. "Besides, I plan to major in a graphic-design related field and the experience will be nice to have."
