A Game Most Dangerous

On March 20, the theatre program performed their UIL One Act play Frankenstein. “I could barely believe what I heard after [it was] announced that we were advancing,” freshman Zack Williams said. “It was crazy. Being one of the only freshmen in the show and also [being] a lead definitely put pressure on my shoulders. I knew that the only thing I could do was my best, but that was until I started to think what if my best was not enough? I was feeling like I could never amount to being what [everyone else] thought I was. Endl explained the proper safety precautions to take on April 8 when the solar eclipse passes through Williamson County. “Make sure you have the proper protection for the eyes,” Endl said. “In terms of other safety measures, if you are going to go somewhere, be prepared. For example, pack water and snacks. The travel on the way back can be very complicated because everybody goes at the same time, when the sun is out of the eclipse, everyone leaves at the same time, so there have been lots of traffic jams in the past.”

Desai will be attending Brown University in the fall to pursue an education in medicine. “The feeling of finishing a race is so rewarding,” Desai said. “Being involved in a variety of extracurriculars has taught me how to balance my time and be well rounded. Triche plans to attend Kilgore college and is hopeful to continue high kicking with the Rangerettes in the fall. “When I first saw the Rangerettes, I was enamored by how professional they were,” Triche said. “It made me absolutely fall in love with them and everything they do. I knew I wanted to dance after high school and the Rangerettes to me, feels like home. Its kind of an all or nothing type of deal. And I am not a big fan of the all or nothing. So I kinda found a garage band to house all of the musicians who didnt have a place in the school or people who didnt have a traditional instrument they played. Stone said that she is optimistic about what her future holds in the literary world, and is proud of how far she has come despite the odds. “It doesnt take a special skill set to write a book, and you don’t have to be anyone special to do it,” Stone said. “If you have the drive and motivation, you have to just keep pushing yourself to write even when you don’t feel like it, because, in the end, you will be proud of what you’ve accomplished.” Courtesy of Lilly Stone

Waterloo swim instructor, Emler swim instructor, and Camp Hope leader are just some of the jobs available for students over the summer. Junior Clara Rabago will be working as a small group leader at Camp Hope for two weeks over the summer where she will be taking care of the children there and participating in activities such as church services, games, art, and science. “I’m excited to have my own kids this year,” Rabago said. “I like seeing how a kid will come in and be super shy, but then they come out all being friends. They’re so happy and energetic and it’s just cool to see how much these kids grow within a week.”

Hands high in the air and cheering in front of the PAC, Varsity Winter Guard gives one last goodbye before they headed off to the Reid Arena in College Station where they would end up placing fourth at their state competition. Sophomore Tiffany Ly says state was an experience she’ll never forget. “I know that our team has put so much hard work into everything and its just genuinely so cool to see the show put together,” Ly said. “But our staff and our chaperons really help put the show together as well, helping lift us up, bring stuff that we need and support from the band is also really great.”

A Scary Good Play

Yearbooks have been on sale for $80 all school year, with 90 left in stock. “Im really happy with this book,” content editor and senior James Sanderson said. “I think other people are going to be happy with it; all our pages look really cute. Issues are a thing, but we have them every single year and we dont let them get in the way. We work on a very, very tight schedule and theres no pushing deadlines back. It’s a lot of fun, though. Senior Ash Foster poses next to her project she built for to attend the San Antonio Ag Mech show. Her purple planter built for her mom earned herself a blue ribbon. “I think it was really fun to learn how to paint,” Foster said. “We used spray paint primer and then two coats of paint and I thought that was really fun. We had to clean the entire thing. We had to wire wheel it and there was still splatter after and I spent like 3 hours cleaning. I had to put a hazmat suit on with a respirator. I absolutely loved it. I feel like Im in Monsters Inc right now. All the projects were all black and the only way you could see mine was because it was purple.”

It is so satisfying to hit a ball right where you intended it to go, to work with your teammate to win against your opponent and to master a skill you’ve worked so hard to perfect. I know that if you give pickleball a shot, you can experience these things too, and you’ll soon find yourself obsessed.

Prom was on April 6, 2024 at the Bob Bullock Museum and lasted from 7-11 p.m. Tickets were $60 per person and promised a DJ, photo booths, games, drinks and light snacks. Students voted on a theme of Casino Royale, but the only on-theme aspects were the poker chips. Prom was okay, but definitely needs to be revamped for next year.

Stone said that she is optimistic about what her future holds in the literary world, and is proud of how far she has come despite the odds. “It doesnt take a special skill set to write a book, and you don’t have to be anyone special to do it,” Stone said. “If you have the drive and motivation, you have to just keep pushing yourself to write even when you don’t feel like it, because, in the end, you will be proud of what you’ve accomplished.” Courtesy of Lilly Stone
Waterloo swim instructor, Emler swim instructor, and Camp Hope leader are just some of the jobs available for students over the summer. Junior Clara Rabago will be working as a small group leader at Camp Hope for two weeks over the summer where she will be taking care of the children there and participating in activities such as church services, games, art, and science. “I’m excited to have my own kids this year,” Rabago said. “I like seeing how a kid will come in and be super shy, but then they come out all being friends. They’re so happy and energetic and it’s just cool to see how much these kids grow within a week.”

Celebratory grins and applause were not in short supply on Jan. 26, as Cedar Park citizens and students of Cedar Park High School gathered to cheer on the 4A Division II Football State Champions as they rolled down Cypress Creek Road in a line of pick-ups.

The parade ended in Milburn Park where the festivities continued with music, games and food. The mayor of Cedar Park made an appearance as well as CPHS Principal Barbara Spelman, head football coach Joe Willis and LISD Athletic Director Chris Ross. 

“It showed how proud the community was,” junior corner Lane Waller said. “They supported us throughout the season and we are grateful and appreciative of them.”

The event not only honored football, it recognized the state runner-up cross country team, the state champion marching band and the state second runner-up volleyball team.

“It was a great way to bring the community together and celebrate our victory,” sophomore trumpet player Kole Hey said.

The Cedar Park Celebrities also made an appearance, walking in front of the trucks the football players rode in.

“It was a time to really celebrate our school making history,” sophomore celebrity Erika Harvey said.

The event was truly a celebration for champions and as Athletic Director Chris Ross mentioned, the Cedar Park Football team hopes to make this an annual event by winning another state title in 2013.

Paige “Swaggie” Parks is a junior and second year staffer for The Wolfpack. Born and raised in Cedar Park, she loves the area and its proximity to Austin. Paige is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and plays varsity softball for CPHS. When she is not playing softball, she drowns herself in homework. She enjoys spending time with her dog, Duncan, and buying him cute sweaters that he refuses to wear. Her favorite teacher is none other than Mrs. Hert, whom she admires. Paige is looking forward to another great year for The Wolfpack.
