Meet and Greet: Coaches & Social Studies

Four new coaches were added to the CPHS staff this 2016-17 year.
Matt Kuykendall
Kuykendall is new to Cedar Park and is expanding his passion by becoming a football coach. He also teaches Government.
Q: What do you like so far about Cedar Park High School or the community in general?
A: I like the kids at the school and think that the community is very supportive and welcoming.
Q: If you could have a superpower what would it be?
A: I would want to fly so I could get out of awkward situations.
Q: What extracurricular activities were you in in high school?
A: I was in football, baseball, NHS and SAD which stands for Students Against Drugs.
Greg Garcia
Garcia teaches Professional Communications and is a baseball and volleyball coach for the Cedar Park.
Q: What do you like so far about Cedar Park High School or the community in general?
A: The community is very close knit. The students support everyone and have each others backs.
Q: What is your favorite memory of your high school?
A: Winning back to back district champions in baseball.
Q: If you were in the Zombie Apocalypse, what would your role be?
A: I would be in charge of the food supply because there is no better job.
Allen Stewart
Stewart teaches World Geography along with World History
Q: What do you like so far about Cedar Park High School or the community in general?
A: I like how respectful everyone is and there is a great staff here.
Q: What extracurricular activities were you in in high school?
A: I was in soccer, cross country and track. I could run.
Q: What is your favorite movie ever?
A: I like movies that make you think. I really like the “Matrix” because there is so much philosophy in it.
Greg Gamble
Gamble is the new AP U.S. History teacher and is also the head girl’s soccer coach.
Q: What do you like so far about Cedar Park High School or the community in general?
A: I really like all of the friendliness that all of the students have. They are very respectful and all shook my hand.
Q: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
A: I enjoy spending time with my three boys who are seven, ten and ten months.
Q: What is your favorite movie ever?
A: “Dr. Strange Love” and “So Far Ahead of Time” because they’re so funny.
Josh Marsh
Q: What is your favorite thing about CPHS so far?
A: I like the close family feel. The sense of community is amazing and I love how supportive the Cedar Park area is of CPHS.
Q: What was your favorite class in High School?
A: US History. That’s why I teach what I teach.
Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: I love “Gettysburg” because of the history aspect, but other than that, probably “Ghostbusters.”
