Posing for senior pictures, senior Cally Hall describes her excitement to continue her 16 year dance journey at Texas A&M. “I decided A&M was best for me partially because it’s the only school in Texas with a dance science degree, but I also was really excited about being part of the massive Aggie network,” Hall said. “People are connected all over the world because they’re Aggies, and I am super excited to be joining and carrying on that tradition.”

At two years old she was already dancing. By second grade she was competing. Now a senior, Cally Hall became one of the 20 people in the nation to be accepted into the Texas A&M Dance Science Program.

Hall started dancing at Dance Emotions and then moved to Cedar Park Dance Company where she began her 11 year competing career. Over the past 16 years, dance has helped Hall juggle school with a hard working attitude.

The biggest way dance has benefited me is by causing me to develop a good work ethic,” Hall said.  “I know the importance of hard work, and I always try my best in all my endeavors because that’s the way I was taught to do things growing up in the dance studio.”

Between after school studio dance, four different honor societies and being an officer for the Cedar Park photo club, Hall is also the social officer captain for the Celebrities. Her in-school dance began with Cedar Park Middle School Crimson Cadets in the seventh grade. Hall commented that she fell in love with the school dance team and decided to continue through senior year.

“[Through Celebrities] I feel like I’ve learned so much about how to lead with grace and serve my peers to the best of my ability,” Hall said. “I also have loved the years of friendship and getting to dance at school every single day.”

After graduating, Hall is planning on attending Texas A&M to major in dance science, which is a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a dance concentration. Eventually Hall’s goal is to become a physical therapist. When researching for majors before Physical Therapy school, Hall discovered that it is important to major in something science related while still standing out amongst other candidates.

“I’ve known for a while that I wanted to become a physical therapist, so I did a lot of research on what you should major in for your bachelor’s degree before applying to PT school,” Hall said. “I thought dance science was perfect for this because it combines my love of dance with my career goals, and it’s unique which will help me stand out.”

Hall applied to A&M and was accepted in November. After her acceptance she then decided to pursue the dance science program and tried out via video due to her busy schedule.

“After I sent [the video] I got a letter saying I got in,” Hall said. “I was super excited because they only accept 20-25 people per year.”

Ultimately, dance has made up a big part of Hall’s life and will continue to help her pursue her dream career in the future. Hall is excited to join the large Aggie family in the fall and help to carry on such an important university legacy.

“I decided A&M was best for me partially because it’s the only school in Texas with a dance science degree, but I also was really excited about being part of the massive Aggie network,” Hall said. “People are connected all over the world because they’re Aggies, and I am super excited to be joining and carrying on that tradition.”
