Standing with other national qualifiers, senior Cadence Teicher (front row, center) shows off her silver medal at the Texas Thespians State Festival at the Gaylord Hotel in Grapevine on Nov. 18. Teicher has attended the convention each of the past two years, and competed in two categories this time around. “I wanted to compete [my first year],” Teicher said. “[But] the first time was just for the experience and to do workshops. I’m a very competitive person, so putting myself in more of a competitive situation allowed my abilities to truly shine.” Photo courtesy of Thespian Troupe 6289, used with permission

Making a bad call in baseball is so easy.”

Focused on his work, Tech Director Trevor Smith measures a piece of the set for The One Act Play That Goes Wrong. This is Smiths first year as Tech Director for the theatre department, as he is motivated to use his expertise to the departments benefit. “I have a lot of carpentry experience,” Smith said. “Set design and construction [are] kind of my bread and butter. [This should] help “level up” our set quality and safety. Hopefully actors will feel safe on the sets and technicians will be safe building them.”

At the Haunted House production, junior Brenden Kellicker works on lighting. He works on the theater tech crew during productions. I do the lighting, which heavily affects the mood in scenes, Kellicker said. Light might not change much, but it subconsciously changes the way you feel or experience a scene.
