Running for the end zone, junior running back Lucas Viloria breaks free for a touchdown in the game against Glenn Friday night. Viloria rushed for two touchdowns in the 52-28 win. “It was a great confidence booster,” Viloria said. “It sets us up for the next game and shows the rest of the district what’s going to happen next.”

Showing off her most recent tattoo and the book it comes from, English teacher Kimberly Vidrine tattoos a line of poetry each year to remember her students. She said she plans to continue the tradition for years to come, or until she runs out of space. “I think my students like it and a lot of people seem to like it,” Vidrine said. “Whenever somebody compliments me on my tattoos, I just usually say, ‘do you want to hear the story?’ And they say yes, and then they always love the story.” Photo courtesy of Kim Vidrine.

Standing near the trees, senior Parker Huang poses for a senior picture. Huang was a member of the swim team, a math tutor and UIL Academics district champion in four different events. “I'm sure that I will look back on this time fondly,” Huang said. “And the people I met, the experiences I had, the ups and downs, they've made me the person I am today.” Photo courtesy of Joy Huang

Is your refrigerator running? Of course not! That was just a joke, and since it’s April it’s the time of the year to prank friends using some silly and maybe a bit cheesy prank calls on them. I’ve listed about 6 or so, so that should give you plenty of ideas hopefully! Illustration by Sebastian Farias

Giving sophomore Sebastian Farias a chemistry lecture on Dalton’s Law of Partial Pressures, Chemistry teacher Lauren Buntin explains how to convert from 589 millimeters of Mercury to atmospheres. “I look forward to seeing my students and getting to see you guys learn and excel and advance and, you know, do something today that you couldn't do yesterday," Buntin said. "So, because chemistry is so much about skills, it's cool for me to get to see you guys get more skills." Photo courtesy of Sebastian Farias

On a double date, senior Amia De Leon and senior Kimberly Walters get to know their books during the Blind Date event in the library. The Page Turners Club set up an event in which students pick books that have been wrapped and only say what genre they are, that way they can pick out a book they wouldn’t have otherwise. "I have a lot of fun in page turners,” De Leon said. “Typically, Walters helps me with our slideshows and trivia, we’re taking some of our book members to a book festival in a couple of weeks and that will be very very exciting.” Photo by Sebastian Farias.

If you’re dealing with difficulties such as the loss of a loved one or traumatic event, counselor Sarah Cable has provided several resources that you can use for whatever problem you’re dealing with, and I’ve written about my own experiences and have given some advice on how to deal with grief. “The counselors are the student advocates," Cable said. “Oftentimes, we know the bigger picture and advocate for our students, don’t be afraid to come talk to us and ask us questions.” Illustration by Sebastian Farias

Scribbling on his notes, sophomore Simon Olson makes an animation of a stick figure. Students of the animation class have been working on a paper animation project for a couple of weeks. "I wanted a way to express myself with visual story telling," Olson said. "We are creating sketchbooks, flipbooks, and we're slowly making the jump from paper to digital animation."

Smiling at the camera, Author Ehigbor Okosun, members of Page Turners, and other students reflect on the author's visit. “I thought the visit was great,” Senior Amia De Leon said. “It was interesting talking to her and [getting to know] her process and her thoughts and books in general. But I think the reason it went well [was that] people got to ask questions. I'm glad that she said so much in response to the questions and it wasn't just one and done. [The author’s responses] felt very articulate.”
