Antisemitism is one of the leading causes towards the Holocaust, and affects the lives of millions to this day. “I still care so much about education and I was aware of the Texas Holocaust Genocide and Antisemitary Advisory Commission through a friend, and thought that that really kind of related really well to me, as someone who cares about the rights of others and cares about education,” Fryer said.

Heart Eyes is a romantic thriller movie which released on Feb. 7 and was a great contrast to the regular horror movies in theaters. The movie was cliché and great fro a good laugh. Every month, sponsored by the poetry club, the library hosts a poetry reading. “I never thought I would be interested in [poetry readings] because I’m not the biggest poetry fan,” Walters said. “I think poetry is a very succinct way to express feelings and get a story across. Whereas lots of books have a span of a whole story, but it’s put in a lot of words. The power of poetry is that you can be so succinct within, and there’s a lot of power within the words that are used.”

The Celebrities Line and Social Officers line up for a professional group picture that brings context to their Spring Show theme for this year, “Up, Up And Away." On April 30, the Celebs hosted a kids dance camp, participants from which will also have the opportunity to participate in the show. “Some kids chose to dance in the show and a few celebs volunteered to be up there dancing with them,” junior Laura Hunter said. “It will be a great way for them to have a performance experience and see the final dance.”

With busy schedules, it can be really difficult to find time and motivation to work out and keep a healthy lifestyle while keeping up with all school activities. This has motivated juniors Bella Rivera and Ashley Dahse to create the brand new club, “Health n’ Fitness” to promote healthy lifestyles around campus and connect with people on this same journey. “We created this club to help encourage people to get involved with healthy lifestyles as well as motivating ourselves too,” Dahse said. “This way we could continue our journey together with helping other like-minded people.”

The French Legation Museum, the oldest recorded building in Austin, is home to a vast range of history. Once belonging to the 19th century French diplomat Alphonse Dubois, it now gives visitors the opportunity to learn more about the early history of Texas and see how life was back then with their own eyes. I loved my visit to this museum as it gave me new information about a person in Texas history that I didn’t know about, and being able to see some of the objects and house interiors from that time made me feel as if I had traveled back in time two centuries.

At the end of march, choir presented a magical performance featuring many Disney princesses and their friends. This April, Anna and Elsa are coming back with the theatre department with Frozen jr. "Come see this show to remember a well loved movie from our childhoods," Brant said. "It's also a great show for kids and a chance for them to see their favorite Disney princesses."

Before I started watching this movie, I truly did not know what to expect. But, as time passed by, the bigger picture started slowly forming, and I started to become truly involved in the story, sympathizing with the characters and transporting myself into their world. After watching this movie, I reinforced the idea of living life to the fullest and the importance of always being there and present for the people in my life.

During meetings, members have time to work on their work and share it with other members, in order to improve their work.“I believe many students write poetry, as I did as a young person, and they have no one to share it with,” club sponsor and English teacher Ms. Iskra said. “Poetry Club is an opportunity for students to meet other people who write poetry and share their own work in a supportive setting. [The club] is an opportunity for students who love and perhaps write poetry to share it with other interested students. We also seek to improve and promote the craft of poetry composition through practice and performance.”

With the Halloween season just around the corner, horror and mystery books are becoming the go-to at the library. Some good spooky season reads include "IT" by Stephen King and "Home Before Dark" by Riley Sager.

Posing together in the UT parking lot, WISE members smile at the camera together on one of the club's fieldtrips to the UT campus to look throw telescopes. Fieldtrips are a big part of WISE, bringing science outside of the classroom. "We traditionally go to the UT campus and look at the telescopes and tour the campus at night," club sponsor and Physics teacher Allison Trueblood said. "[We also] go on other field trips to different science museums around."
