![Sophomore Emma Weltens browses her BeReal feed during lunch. Weltens said that she appreciates how BeReal focuses on its users posting in-the-moment photos. “I think it’s a good app, it’s less about seeing them with their friends as it is about what they’re doing in their life,” Weltens said. “If you’re not doing anything [and post on BeReal], people reach out like ‘hey, wanna hang out?’ That doesn’t really happen on Instagram.”](https://cphswolfpack.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/emmaweltens-900x600.jpg)
Being Real
![As social medias influence grows, there are certain pros and cons that come along with it. In addition to liking Instagram posts or making music videos on TikTok, online relationships can form, people can educate themselves on important matters and both kids and adults gain exposure to the world around them. “Obviously, constant exposure to social media can be both physically and mentally draining,” senior Tolani Segun said. “However, if you are being conscious in its use, by limiting the time you spend on certain sites and refraining from pages that encourage negativity, then social media can be a very useful tool. Best of all, TikTok and Instagram let you play with funny filters, and TikTok even taught me how to dance.”](https://cphswolfpack.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/newpic.jpg)
Two Shades of Gray
![Sophomore Ireland Weaver takes photos on Snapchat. Weaver says that the only reason she uses filters is so she can have fun with them herself.
“I think filters are like digital makeup,” Weaver said. “I put
filters on my photos to make them pleasing to me, it’s not for
anyone else.”](https://cphswolfpack.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/ireland-picture-number-2-900x600.jpg)

![Waterloo swim instructor, Emler swim instructor, and Camp Hope leader are just some of the jobs available for students over the summer. Junior Clara Rabago will be working as a small group leader at Camp Hope for two weeks over the summer where she will be taking care of the children there and participating in activities such as church services, games, art, and science. “I’m excited to have my own kids this year,” Rabago said. “I like seeing how a kid will come in and be super shy, but then they come out all being friends. They’re so happy and energetic and it’s just cool to see how much these kids grow within a week.”](https://cphswolfpack.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/crossword-pic-edit.jpg)
