Hands flying up and down the bass clarinet, Giovani Lang-pale belts out a tune within the confines of his personal practice room. “It's incredible,” Lang-pale said. “The feeling, the feeling that you feel whenever you're like, okay, I did this. Nice. That was good. Now I have to think about this. Okay, I'm doing this. Look over there. Look at this. It's really cool to have your brain be able to process so many things simultaneously while you're running. You're marching. You're playing. And it's really hard to. Which is what makes it fun, you know?”

Leaving his opponent on the ground after a quick and precise maneuver, sophomore running back Trae Hill sprints toward the end zone. The varsity football team will play against Round Rock High School tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Gupton Stadium. “[Being on varsity] made me work a lot harder,” Hill said. “It’s a lot more mental, [too]. People don’t understand that if you’re not in the right headspace, then you won’t be at your best. I hope we make a lot of memories [this season]. We’re confident and we practice hard for sure. We realize that we have a good team this year, [that] we have potential.”

Conde De Frankenberg would go on to win the varsity girls 5K race for the second year in a row. “It was a good turnout, it was really fun,” Conde De Frankenberg said. “I love our school course, it was good being able to run on there and represent your own course.”
