Mckendree University in Lebanon, Illinois was the first college I went on a recruiting trip to. It is a division 2 school with a relatively small campus with 60% of its students involved in athletics.

CPHS faces off the Leander Lions in their first meet of the season and came out victorious in the end.  Coach Dean Lackey has specific goals for this season.  “I want us to win District champions this year,” Lackey said. “We have less kids on the team this year, so I have a lot more visual attention and I’ve been able to see a lot more improvements. Judging by our first meet against Leander, we beat them and they were our real competition.”

CPHS Drumline came in third place in their competition Dripping Springs that took place on Sept. 17.  We were competing with other very competitive drumlines and I was happy we could place as well as last year, senior marimba player Courtney Fielding said. I was most content with our level of execution without performance, and had no regrets, as  I believed we played our hearts out and that we had one of the best run-throughs out there.

Working on their homework while they wait for students, seniors Miranda Van Doren and Dean Torkelson are two major contributors to Timber Teach. I really enjoy helping people in whatever way I can, Torkelson said. I know that everyone’s high school experience is a little different. Some subjects are harder for some people, but we all need a little help with some class at some point. I’m glad that I can help people succeed in school.
