Reading is a gateway to different worlds and can take readers on an adventure they can’t experience in their own life, giving them the opportunity to escape from their current reality, according to English teacher Jessica Logsdon. “Reading has given me a much-needed outlet. ![One of the few stick vehicles in the school parking lot, senior Alex Trebilco’s 1970 Ford Maverick is a restoration project he worked on with his dad. He and his father have worked on cars together for all of Trebilco’s life, and have several finished projects because of it. “[My favorite memory with my car is] honestly just cruising with my dad in his truck and my car,” Trebilco said. “Both of the [cars] are restored. The Speech/Debate Team attended the Hays County UIL Meet Dec. 14. The following students earned awards:
Isaac Jochimson – 2nd Place Persuasive Speaking
Eddy De La Garza – 4th Place Persuasive Speaking
Caitlin Orr – 6th Place Prose Interpretation Of Literature
Evan Grosch – 2nd Place Varsity LD Debate
The team of Macalah Thomas and Jake Herrick – 3rd Place CX Debate
The speech and debate teams will continue competition in the spring, with the CX district meet being held at Dripping Springs High School on Jan. 28.

![While feeling the rush of emotions after reaching 100 wins in his wrestling career, senior and varsity wrestler Kane Sistrunk celebrates his win against Comal Canyon. Attaining this achievement is a rare occurrence in the high school wrestling world. “It was super relieving because I knew there were celebrations and fun things like that,” Sistrunk said. “My best friend was telling everyone I had 99 wins before the match, which is nerve-racking [to try and meet everyone’s expectation of me reaching 100]. It was super fulfilling to get [the win].”
