HOSA (Future Health Professionals)

Purpose of the club:

To provide opportunities for students who are interested in the field of health science. HOSA is a club for “future healthcare professionals.” The goal of HOSA is to promote career opportunities in the healthcare industry and to enhance the delivery of quality healthcare to all people.

Who may be interested in joining this club?

Any student who is interested in learning more about and gaining exposure to the field of health science.
HOSA provides a great opportunity for students who are thinking of pursuing a career in healthcare, or for any student wishing to explore their interests toward the field of health science. Students can meet other students who share their interests, as well as gain knowledge about the different career paths in healthcare through HOSA.

Club Events:

The Area I Fall leadership Conference on September 29 in San Antonio. This conference gives HOSA members a chance to interact with other HOSA members in our area and attend workshops that include leadership activities, learning health science skills and listening to guest speakers. Forms, as well as $15 for this event, are due by September 12.

In the upcoming months HOSA is planning to host several health science related workshops which may include the topics of taking vital signs, medical terminology and exploring different careers in health care.

There is another competition starting in December. On the website students can find a full list of the many health science events they may choose to compete in. Some events require online testing, which will happen around December 13. Area I competition is March 1-2 in Austin, and state competition is March 28-30 in San Antonio.
