Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honor Society)

Purpose of the club:

It is a national organization that encourages and fosters the love for learning mathematics

Who may be interested in joining this club?

Anyone who has a desire to further explore math

Club Events:

An annual tradition for the club is volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House, a nonprofit organization that helps children and families who are in the hospital.

Requirements:

Take a PreAP or AP math class and maintain an 85 in the class, have a 4.0 weighted GPA, attend monthly meetings, complete 3 math hours and 3 service hours per semester, pay the dues: $10 for returning members and $15 for new members. Applications must be turned in on time, as specified by the Mu Alpha Theta website.

Meetings:

When- 2nd Thursday of every month

Where- Morning meetings will be in Mrs. Battles room (A225) and after school meetings will be in Ms. Cole’s room (A222).

“Students should join this club because it promotes mathematical learning for all. Through our club, members can tutor other students who may be struggling in mathematical subjects. In addition, at the end of his/her senior year, if the member is in good standing, he/she will receive honor cords to wear at graduation,” senior Sam Muir said.
