The theater department performs “Titanic,” the show that gave students the opportunity to be nominated for the Heller awards. The Heller award winners will be announced April 16, 2025. And students will have the opportunity to win scholarships, with over 30 Austin schools participating and six CPHS students/groups nominated. “This community is so great,” junior Grayson Levee said. “Everyone is so accepting and supportive. It meant so much to me to have all this support from these people and it was exciting to be able to work with them.”

Taking a breath as he raises his arm up and out of the water, sophomore Kaden Padilla swims the 500 freestyle at the UIL state meet on Feb. 21-22. Padilla placed 10th overall and second in the consolation final in the event, dropping two seconds. “My family was there, so being able to drop time for them was really special,” Padilla said. “It was awesome [finding out I advanced to the consolation finals]. The construction to the English hall concluded at the beginning of the first semester. Pointing towards the screen, guest speaker Lauren Fryer begins to explains the meaning of the word "antisemistism". Antisemitism is one of the leading causes towards the Holocaust, and affects the lives of millions to this day. “I still care so much about education and I was aware of the Texas Holocaust Genocide and Antisemitary Advisory Commission through a friend, and thought that that really kind of related really well to me, as someone who cares about the rights of others and cares about education,” Fryer said.

Every month, sponsored by the poetry club, the library hosts a poetry reading. “I never thought I would be interested in [poetry readings] because I’m not the biggest poetry fan,” Walters said. “I think poetry is a very succinct way to express feelings and get a story across. Whereas lots of books have a span of a whole story, but it’s put in a lot of words. The power of poetry is that you can be so succinct within, and there’s a lot of power within the words that are used.”

The Page Turners Club set up an event in which students pick books that have been wrapped and only say what genre they are, that way they can pick out a book they wouldn’t have otherwise. Sitting in the spotlight, junior and line officer Sophie Poulsen plays her cello. Kassidy is a senior and third year reporter. She was born in the early 2000s to Rachelle and Jayson Wilkinson who gave her a name and a few other things like shelter, hope… and four other siblings her exact age. Along with her other quintuplet siblings, Kassidy is a part of the CPHS pickleball club. She believes Diet Coke is heaven’s water, and spends her time reading romance novels, dreaming of Torchy’s Tacos and writing articles. Also, she believes that the Nigersaurus is the best dinosaur.

Heidi Williams, Reporter
Heidi is a senior and a third year reporter. Along with newspaper, Heidi races her Ninja 400 with CMRA and has an internship at the Water Treatment Plant for the City of Cedar Park. Heidi spends her weekends at COTA, either racing or taking photos, and she is always down to go to any Korean BBQ. Heidi’s goal for this year is to not only get into the University of Texas, but also learn how to wheelie so she can finally compete with her boyfriend. Also, she believes that the Spinosaurus is the best dinosaur.
