Swim team success

Swimming Update 2/26:

The Cedar Park swimmers competed at the UIL State Meet at U.T. and came home with eight medals, setting six new school records in the process.  The ladies  earned a top ten spot finishing ninth overall.  Mark Olsen placed second in the 200 Freestyle (new school record) and 12th in the 100 Freestyle. Taylor Abbott placed second in the 500 Freestyle (new school record) and 12th in the 200 Freestyle.  Amanda Wu placed third in the 50 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle (both new school records). Victoria Sanaikone placed 10th in the 100 Butterfly, and the relay team of Sheena Wang, Victoria Sanaikone, Katie Fitzgerald and  Amanda Wu placed third in the 200 Freestyle Relay and sixth in the 400 Freestyle Relay (both new school records).

 

Swimming Update 2/18:

The CPHS Timberwolf Swim Team competed Feb. 7 and 8 in Magnolia at the Region Meet  and brought home four Regional titles.  Mark Olsen won both the 200 and 100 Freestyle events, Amanda Wu  won the 50 Freestyle, and the Lady’s 200 Freestyle Relay of Sheena Wang, Victoria Sananikone, and Amanda Wu took that title. Since these athletes won their events, they automatically advance to the State Meet at The University of Texas on Sept. 21 and 22.

In addition, Taylor Abbott will compete in the Boys 200 Freestyle and 500 Freestyle, Victoria Sananikone will compete in the girls 100 Butterfly, Amanda Wu will compete in the Girls 100 Freestyle, and the girls 400 Freestyle relay team, consisting of Sheena Wang, Victoria Sananikone, Katie Fitzgerald, and Amanda Wu will also compete.

 

The Cedar Park boys and girls swim teams both placed second in the district meet on Jan. 25 and 26.

District champions included Danny Grant in the 200IM , Amanda Wu in the 100 and 50 Freestyle, Taylor Abbott 500 Freestyle, the Girls 200 and 400 Freestyle relay consisting of Sheena Wang, Victoria Sananikone, Katie Fitzgerald, and Amanda Wu, and the Boys 400 Freestyle Relay consisting of Mark Olsen, Danny Grant, Matt Sananikone, and Taylor Abbott.

Taylor Abbott was also named Male Swimmer of the meet.

They will next compete in Magnolia at the Region meet on Feb. 7-8.
