Varsity tennis will advance to the area tournament after winning one of their two district matches Fri. Oct. 4. They won the first match against Marble Falls but lost the second to Rouse.
“There was strong play on both sides,” junior Reagan Head said.
With the area tournament on Oct. 18-19 Head is focused on re-matching Rouse for a spot in the regional tournament.
“If we have the opportunity to play them again in playoffs, we hope to beat them and move on to Region,” Head said.
Junior Collin Lawrence believes his team can avenge their loss to Rouse.
“We’ll just have to fight and work as hard as we possibly can,” Lawrence said.
For junior Rebekah Storke, making it to Regional tournament on Oct. 25-26 isn’t far off.
If we keep up the desire to win that makes us practice hard and believe in each other, than we can make it,” Storke said.
Along with hard work, the teams close bond should boost them in competition, according to Lawrence.
“Our team is a lot closer than the other teams and we support each other a lot,” Lawrence said.
