Students gather around a table selecting ribbons, trinkets, and supplies as they work on creating their own homecoming mums during the Den activity period. The Den hosted a mum-making event where students could share materials and ideas while learning how to make their own mums from scratch. “For mums, to buy all the stuff to make your own from scratch is really expensive,” Librarian Keri Burns said. “But if everybody has a couple of little things to offer and then everybody kind of makes it a group activity and shares, then the cost is divided and the fun is multiplied.”

Running with the ball, junior quarterback David Cooper attempts to escape the opposing pass rush during the homecoming loss against East View. The defeat was the first loss in the homecoming game for the Timberwolves in 20 years. “We just made too many mistakes,” head football coach Michael Quintero, or Coach Q, said. “There were too many missed opportunities that we didn’t capitalize on and they did, so that’s the outcome.”

Posing for a picture at last year’s homecoming, sophomore Emilya Garza sits with her friends on a couch set up for photo-taking. At the 2022 dance, there were arcade machines and students were able to purchase disposable cameras. “Honestly my favorite memory was taking pictures with the couch,” Garza said. “They set up a couch at homecoming and [the backdrop behind] it said ‘2022 Homecoming.’ Everybody was taking pictures there and you could get 20 people on that couch it felt like. That was my favorite part because you could take pictures and laugh and you’ll have them forever.”

Posing for the camera, seniors celebrate the start of their last year at this year's senior sunrise. This year’s annual tradition was held on Aug. 22 in the Milburn park parking lot and came with complications and confusion that led to obstacles the Student Council had to overcome. “Planning events this year, I would say that it was stressful at first just coming in off of summer and not having done anything and then full on sprinting into the first events,” senior Ainsley Harlan said. “But I think we’ve gotten the hang of it. We’ve kind of gotten our feet under us and we have our group chat, it’s gotten a lot easier to communicate. It can be stressful at times, but I think more importantly it’s fun, I know that some of the people I’m planning it with, like Ariana [Balakrishnan], we have a lot of fun doing it and we enjoy what we’re doing. We like giving the student body a voice. It's kind of why we do what we do, is to tell the admins what the student body wants.” (Photo Courtesy of Ariana Balakrishnan)
