**UPDATE**

Freshman Jayda Bordeaux, junior Gabe Lensing, sophomore Mason Vidrine and senior John Wheeler will compete in the State wrestling tournament in Garland on Feb 13-14.

CPHS wrestling took on the district meet, Jan. 25 at Rouse high school. They left the meet with four advancing to the regional meet.

Senior John Wheeler placed first, sophomore Mason Vidrine placed second, sophomore Justin Lovelace placed fourth and freshmen Jayda Bordeaux placed first.

“Since there are only four of us going it gives us the opportunity to really focus during practice and take the intensity up a notch,” Wheeler said.

In order to prepare for the regional meet they will be working hard inside and outside of school,” Wheeler said. “Running and cross training outside of practice give Mason, Jayda, Justin and I a competitive edge over our opponents.”

One of the biggest challenges Wheeler hopes the team will overcome is what happened at the district meet, because only four advanced.

“As a team we really need to build our confidence,” Wheeler said. “Our team has much more talent than what we displayed at district.”
