Lake Travis hosted one of the largest parties of the summer when it served as the venue for AquaPalooza 2010. The “world’s largest boating event” was sponsored by SeaRay and the Sail&Ski Center and featured country music stars like Jerrod Niemann, Lee Brice, Joanna Smith, Matt Stillwell, Justin Haigh and Brad Paisley, who headlined the event.
Boats began tying up at seven in the morning July 9, even though festivities were set to begin at noon. An estimated 7,000 boats and 65,000-70,000 people showed up at the Reserve on Lake Travis to enjoy great country music, swimming, prizes and general merrymaking. All though a mass of humanity descended on mile marker 22, the event went off without a hitch and with very few accidents or mishaps. AquaPalooza ended with few misdemeanors and some very satisfied fans, making the event a resounding success.
