Smiling with her dog Hari for her commitment to the University of Texas at Austin in the fall, senior Aashna Ravi poses at her home. Ravi plans to major in Health and Society, an interdisciplinary program within the College of Liberal Arts. “As an aspiring healthcare professional, being able to get that higher understanding of how people are affected by the background they come from will be especially helpful as I go forward into a career that is very people oriented,” Ravi said. “Going forward I hope that there’s a lot more growth in terms of accessible healthcare.”

Smiling while forming hand signs, junior Klarah Sosa dances with her peers. For the lyrics uptown funk you up students make the shape of the y = 1/x and y = -1/x. I really gave it my all in class [for preparation]. It was really fun, Sosa said. I think it was really cool way to get kids hopes up to make sure they have a lot of confidence. It wasnt serious but a good mood booster for the day.

Bouquets of white and red roses swap the chair-side tables of the hotel room foyer, puzzling the Hollywood stars Claudia McFadden played by junior Bryelle Swift and pictured Athena Sinclair played by senior Katie Smith. The public performance of Suite Surrender was shown at the school PAC on March 8. In my opinion the dynamics between the characters and fast-pace playwriting flowed together to create a great mystery encounter.

On Friday Feb. 25 the varsity boys won their district game against Liberty Hill 2-0. [Being captain] means a lot I was a captain chosen by every person on the team, Guzman said. It was our first win in district so it was a pretty good feeling and it was refreshing, it put is back to the race for playoffs. Our hopes are to finish strong, win everything we have left, and then hope for the best.

Japanese writer Haruki Murakami first released the novel that propelled him to international recognition, “Norwegian Wood” in 1987 and has released 28 books in total. The red, white and black cover depicted shows what appears to be shadows cast under slender tree trunks correlating to the title, but the more detailed visual shows pairs of feet with two people facing left and one right.

Working independently in class, AP Research students create follow-up emails to participants. The data collection period is currently open, running until Feb. 25. I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience as a student in the AP Capstone program, junior Kaci Craddock said. I especially appreciate the class environments cultivated by the Capstone teachers and my fellow peers that allow for continual conversation and growth. It is a collaborative and challenging class that allows me to improve my writing and research skills while also pursuing topics that I am interested in and want to learn more about.

Unyielding to the opposing team, junior shooting and point guard Gisella Maul dribbles down the court. On Nov. 30, the varsity girls won their non-conference, home game against Waco University 59-29, adding to their overall 17-0 ranking but not contributing to district. “I feel like we’ve had a pretty tough schedule and they are all really good teams that we’ve played,” Maul said. “If anything the focus is more real [this year]. We still have something to prove and so we’ve been more focused and more determined because we know that we’re not just satisfied with winning one state championship, we have bigger goals in mind.”
