Geography Club members use geographical clues to figure out the mystery location in order to win another round of the online game, Geoguessr. The club, created by junior Ryan Green, meets every other Thursday to learn more about the environments around them in a more laid-back environment free of stress. “The initial goal [of the club] is to get more people excited about geography because I guess it’s kind of like a stigma that Americans are bad at geography, which is kind of true,” Green said. “I just wanted more people to get excited about geography and if it wasn’t laid back, then it wouldn’t be as exciting and not as many people would show up.”

The UIL Academic team poses for a team picture after winning the 25-5A District Championship Saturday. In addition to the district title, five teams earned the championship for their events: Journalism, Current Events, Lit Crit, Comp Sci and Spelling. It was amazing getting first as a school at District, senior Ally JohnPress said. I was especially proud of our Journalism team because I know how hard we have been practicing our writing and editing. As a senior, I am absolutely determined to advance at Regionals, and I have high hopes for State.

Monster High is back with the introduction of the new doll line, Haunt Couture, after a very long hiatus. Their last project was the Skullector line, featuring freak fabulous adaptations of classic horror icons such as Beetlejuice and Pennywise. I am so pleased to see that the franchise from my childhood is back with new modern renditions of the beloved main characters, and I can’t wait to see what the brand will do in the future.

After running the 3200m event with a time of 10:26.49 at the track State Competition on May 7, freshman Isabel Conde De Frankenberg shows off her first medal of the day. Conde De Frankenberg also earned silver for her time of 2:09.21 in the 800m event. “It felt amazing to earn a gold medal at state,” Conde de Frankenberg said. “It was very exciting to know that my training over the season paid off. This state competition was very memorable to me because it was my first [state] competition, so it was just really exciting being able to go out there as a freshman and accomplishing what I did.”
